Key Considerations for Selecting a En Masse Conveyor (Buried Scraper Conveyor)
Author :
2. Particle Size: The particle size of the material matters significantly. For fragile materials during horizontal transportation, the suitable particle size is about 1/20 of the width of the machine trough (B), and the maximum particle size should not exceed 1/10 of B. During vertical transportation, the appropriate size is 1/30 of B, with the maximum not exceeding 1/15 of B. For non - fragile materials, the corresponding ratios are 1/40 and 1/20 for horizontal, and 1/60 and 1/30 for vertical transportation.
4. Moisture Content: The moisture content of the material should be such that when the material is held in the hand and squeezed into a ball, it can still loosen when released. Excessive moisture can cause the material to agglomerate and compact, potentially leading to the "floating chain" problem.
5. Other Properties: Materials that are highly viscous, have a large suspension, are extremely mobile, have excessive compressibility, are very abrasive, are extremely hard, are fragile and not desired to be broken, or are corrosive (without proper anti - corrosion measures) are generally not suitable for regular buried scraper conveyors. Special models may be required for such materials.
2. Distance and Angle: The horizontal conveying distance of a single - unit buried scraper conveyor is typically up to 80 - 120 m, and the vertical lifting height is about 20 - 30 m. If inclined transportation is needed, the inclination angle is generally between 0° and 25°. For vertical - type conveyors, the angle can range from 30° to 90°.
2. Head and Tail Parts: There are two types of head wheels, chain - disengaging devices, and tail wheels corresponding to drop - forged chains and roller chains. Once the chain type is determined, the appropriate components can be selected. The tail part is generally of the screw - tensioning type, with a tensioning stroke of 150 - 250 mm.
4. Drive Unit: Calculate the power of the motor based on the speed of the scraper chain, the circumferential force of the drive wheel, etc. The rated power of the motor should be greater than the calculated power. For drive units with a power exceeding 15 kW, a hydraulic coupling is recommended to meet the heavy - load starting requirements and protect the motor.
2. Space Layout: Consider the installation space and reserve an inspection passage or platform. There should be a hoisting hole and hoisting facilities on the building. The support of the buried scraper conveyor is generally configured by the user. It is necessary to consult the manufacturer about the support spacing, the fixing method between the conveyor and the support, and the stress conditions of the support.
