Installation Instructions for En-Masse Conveyor

Author :

The installation of the en-masse conveyor must follow specific steps and requirements to ensure the normal operation and service life of the equipment. Here is a detailed installation guide:

Pre-Installation Preparation

  • Check and Inventory Components: According to the packing list provided by the manufacturer, count, classify, and inspect all components of the conveyor. Store them properly to avoid rust and corrosion caused by outdoor storage.
  • Check Dimensions: Carefully check the dimensions of all conveyor casings, foundations, and brackets. Resolve any issues promptly.
  • Prepare Tools: Prepare necessary installation tools such as wrenches, electric welders, acetylene cutting machines, steel wire ropes, and thin steel wires.
  • Arrange Personnel: Assign skilled installers, including fitters, welders, riggers, and electricians.

Casing Installation

  • Fix Brackets: During installation, first use a level to confirm the levelness of the foundation and brackets, then spot-weld the brackets to fix them.
  • Install in Sequence: Install conveyor components in sequence starting from the head section as required by the installation layout drawing. Ensure the levelness and verticality of the conveyor casing, especially that the butt joints of the bottom plates are flush. The allowable downward error along the running direction is 0.5-1mm. Avoid left-right misalignment of the side plates to ensure the smooth operation of the scraper chain.
  • Calibrate Straightness: After all conveyor casings are assembled, their straightness must meet the requirements. For conveyors with a total length less than 30m, the straightness should not exceed 5mm; for those longer than 30m, the straightness should not exceed 8mm. If not, calibration is necessary.
  • Fix the Casing: The head section must be firmly installed on the foundation or bracket. The middle and tail sections should be fixed with locking blocks to prevent the conveyor from swinging during operation. If the temperature of the conveyed material exceeds 200°C, an expansion joint should be installed at the feed inlet, and the middle and tail sections must not be fully welded to the bracket.
  • Align Head and Tail Sections: The head and tail sections must be aligned during installation. The axes of the two sprockets should remain parallel to prevent the scraper chain from deviating during operation.

Scraper Chain Installation

  • Inspect the Chain: Before installation, check whether the joints of the scraper chain are flexible. If they are not, disassemble them and polish the pin shafts and chain rod holes with sandpaper to ensure flexibility. Do not apply lubricating oil or grease.
  • Determine Chain Direction: Before installing the scraper chain, open the head and tail end covers and observation covers, adjust the tail shaft to the foremost position towards the head, and determine the direction of the scraper chain. The head wheel teeth should drive the large end of the chain rod of the scraper chain to move forward; reverse installation is strictly prohibited.
  • Install the Chain: Determine the installation method based on the conveyor length and on-site conditions. Generally, install the lower scraper chain first, then the upper scraper chain, with the upper and lower chains in opposite directions.
  • Connect the Chain: Connect the upper and lower scraper chains at the head, then pull the chain at the tail to tighten it. After reaching the appropriate length, complete the connection at the tail. Note that when connecting the scraper chain, the elastic retaining rings must be clamped tightly or the pin shaft retaining rings must be welded firmly.

Drive Device Installation

The motor reducer and transmission mechanism should be firmly welded to the foundation platform or the main machine head. During installation, the output shaft of the reducer must be parallel to the output shaft of the head wheel. For open chain transmission, the centerlines of the large and small sprockets must be in a straight line; for slider direct connection, the center of the head shaft and the center of the reducer output shaft must be in a straight line. After the drive device is aligned, it should be firmly welded to the foundation or fastened with anchor bolts.

Feed Inlet Installation

The feed inlet is generally not welded to the main machine at the factory. During installation, after determining the position, weld it to the upper cover plate of the main machine, and cut off the cover plate inside the feed inlet after welding.

Chain Tensioning

Install the chain stopper at the predetermined position on the conveyor connection groove. Start the head motor to reverse until the coupling slips and the first shaft brake disc of the reducer stops rotating. Then turn the handwheel to brake the brake wheel and cut off the power supply. Slowly loosen the clamps on the brake wheel until the chain reaches the required tension. Finally, re-brake the brake wheel, disconnect the chain or use an adjusting chain to close the scraper chain, slowly release the brake wheel, and remove the chain stopper.

Inspection and Idle Operation

After installation, check that there are no foreign objects inside the machine 槽,and that all bearings, transmission chains, and the inside of the reducer are filled with sufficient lubricating oil or grease. Then start the conveyor for a 2-hour idle operation, mainly checking whether the drive device and scraper are running normally. At the same time, make adjacent intermediate slots fit tightly, re-tighten the chain, and adjust the chain length.
