Reasons for Chain Deviation in En-masse Conveyor

The En-masse conveyor is a conveying device that continuously conveys powdered, granular, and small-block materials and other bulk materials in a closed rectangular cross-sectional casing, with the help of moving scraper chains.It takes advantage of the characteristics of bulk materials having internal friction and exerting lateral pressure on the vertical walls inside the closed casing to achieve continuous material conveying.
The En-masse conveyor chain is composed of chains and scrapers. The scraper chain serves as both the traction component and the conveying element that moves the material. It is the core part of the En-masse conveyor!
Chain misalignment in the En-masse conveyor can cause the scraper to have a large gap on one side of the trough and a small gap on the other side.
A large gap between the scraper and the trough will reduce the average speed of the material in the trough, which is not conducive to increasing the internal friction of the material and overcoming the external frictional resistance between the material and the trough wall, thereby reducing conveying efficiency.
Too small a gap will increase the conveying resistance, accelerate the wear of the scraper and the trough, and reduce the service life of the equipment.
Moreover, once the chain is slightly misaligned, the scraper will scrape against the trough wall, increasing noise and producing a piercing scream. In severe cases, it can cause scraper damage!
Analysis of the causes of chain misalignment
1. Poor installation quality leading to scraper chain misalignment
- The overall machine's straightness exceeds the tolerance.
- The head and tail wheels are not aligned.
- The wheel shaft is skewed, and the casing is deformed.
- The chain is deformed, and the force is uneven when running under load, generating a lateral force that causes chain misalignment.
- The wear of the guide rail is uneven. The chain tends to move towards the more worn side, especially under load.
- The tension adjustment is inconsistent, causing the tail shaft to skew and leading to chain misalignment.
2. Material impact causing chain misalignment
Due to the unstable drop point of the material, the scraper is subjected to unbalanced forces on both sides, which can easily lead to chain misalignment.
3. Misalignment caused by uncertain factors
The force on the scraper is quite complex. For large troughs and long-distance conveyors, even if the installation quality is good, chain misalignment often occurs due to the large frictional resistance.
