Medium-Sized Slat Conveyor
The medium-sized slat conveyor is a continuous conveying equipment designed for medium loads and medium impact resistance, positioned between light and heavy-duty applications. Its design philosophy centers on "balancing strength and flexibility." Compared to light equipment, it can handle larger material weights and impacts, while maintaining better installation adaptability than heavy equipment. It is widely used in the material transfer processes of small to medium to large production lines.
Core Functions and Design Positioning
The core task of a medium-sized slat conveyor is to achieve stable transportation of medium-weight (50-200kg per piece) and medium-volume materials. It is particularly suitable for scenarios where the equipment has certain load-bearing requirements (but does not require the super strength of heavy equipment) and where materials have certain impacts (such as material heights of 300-500mm). The design logic aims to balance load-bearing capacity and equipment flexibility—by strengthening the structure to cope with moderate loads and impacts, while avoiding the heaviness and high cost of heavy equipment, and meeting the "intermediate needs" of most industrial production.
Key Structures and Parameters
Scale Board (Conveying Panel)
Material: Primarily made of medium-thick steel plates (thickness 5-8 mm, such as Q345 low-alloy high-strength steel). In some scenarios (such as mild wear or corrosive materials), wear-resistant alloy plates or galvanized steel plates may be used. The strength of the board is higher than that of lightweight materials, and it can withstand certain impact deformation and rebound.
Specification: The width is usually 600-1200mm, and the length of a single board is 800-1500mm. The overlap gap between boards is ≤ 8mm (to prevent material leakage and allow for thermal expansion and contraction). The surface is often reinforced with horizontal or vertical ribs (thickness 3-5mm) to enhance the rigidity of the board and prevent bending under heavy loads.
Chain and Drive System
Chain: Medium-sized roller chains or bent plate chains are used, with a pitch of 100-200mm (such as 16A, 20A chains). The chain plate thickness is 5-8mm, with a larger pin diameter (≥ 12mm) and enhanced wear resistance (the surface can be treated with carburizing). The chains are mostly driven in pairs (synchronous operation of both chains) to ensure even force distribution during wide conveying.
Drive: The motor has a power of 5.5-15kW and is equipped with a hard-toothed reducer (with higher transmission efficiency). The operating speed is 0.8-1.5m/min (lower than that of lightweight equipment, prioritizing stability under heavy loads). Some equipment is equipped with a variable frequency speed regulation function to adapt to the conveying rhythm of different materials.
Rack and Support
Rack: Welded from channel steel (10-16 gauge) or H-beam (100×100-150×150mm), with a wall thickness of 5-8mm and strong overall rigidity. The weight per meter is 20-50kg. During installation, it needs to be fixed on a concrete foundation (foundation thickness ≥ 100mm) with expansion bolts, or directly connected to the workshop floor embedded parts to reduce operational vibration.
Track: Wear-resistant steel plates (such as Mn13) or cast steel tracks with a thickness of 8-12mm are used, fixed on both sides of the frame to provide more stable support for chains and scales. The installation requires a high level of levelness (with an allowable error of ± 2mm/m) to prevent chain wear.
